Problem with Hiding Text was created by PietroS
Hello Stanislav ...
Please, I have big problems with the hide/unhide text action ... I tried so many times BUT ... My tables is NOT correct after the action work ... Would You be so kind to see the screeshot please?
This is the starting point:
This is my setting panel:
Here is the job completion notice:
And this is the (bad) result:
And I have a question about the highlighting function too ...
But ... in order to highlight the right column (not using the word command, but TransTool) do I really need to use Regular Expression? Because honestly I am not so good with RegEx ...
In any case ... The result of text-hiding is very strange to me. In your video it was not like this ...
Hope You can help.
Many thanks!
Pietro

Hello PietroS,
For some reason I did not receive a notification on this message and so overlooked it.
As far as I can see by your screenshot, Hide/Unhide Text worked correctly and made the text hidden. This can be seen by the thin dotted underline under the hidden text. The reason that the hidden text is visible is that you answered Yes to a prompt to make hidden text visible.
Since you are trying to hide text in a document produced by TransTools for Autocad, this is not the right way to hide text. You should use an option in TransTools for Autocad to prepare text for your CAT tool. Then there would be no need to run Hide/Unhide Text. See documentation on this.
The highlighting function has a different usage - to mark words and phrases with a highlight color, for QA. You need to use text or regex for this. So it does not apply to this use case, you cannot highlight table columns this way.
Best regards,
Stanislav

Hi VS,
You are correct, the table column shrinks in width because of the table column setting you indicated. However, the translation tables generated by TransTools for Autocad or TransTools for Visio should retain column width unless the text is hidden. Since the text in column 1 was hidden, nothing prevents Word from prioritizing the other columns since text in those columns is visible.
Best regards,
Stanislav
