Uninstalling TransTools for Excel manually (Excel 2003 and earlier versions)

The instructions below concern TransTools.xla add-in (TransTools for Excel add-in for Excel 2003 and earlier versions). If you use TransTools.xlam version of the add-in for Excel 2007 and newer versions, please ignore these instructions.

When you install and activate TransTools for Excel (XLA version) under Microsoft Excel, it changes Excel menus and toolbars by adding 'TransTools' menu at the top of Excel window (Excel 2003 or earlier) or in 'TransTools Add-In' group under Add-Ins tab (Excel 2007 or later).

To remove these menus, you need to deactivate TransTools for Excel manually first before proceeding with uninstallation.

Follow these guidelines in order to deactivate TransTools for Excel:

  • Excel 2003 or earlier:

    • Open Microsoft Excel
    • Click Tools -> Add-ins

    • In the dialogue that opens, you will see a list of available add-ins. Uncheck 'TransTools for Microsoft Excel'

    • Click OK button
    • TransTools menu item should disappear from the main menu
    • If you need to remove TransTools for Excel physically from your computer (e.g. if you were prompted to uninstall the add-in by the Automatic Installer), close Microsoft Excel to proceed.

  • Excel 2007 or later:

    Note: This step is not required if you use the Automatic Installer ver. 1.1.0 or greater.

    • Open Microsoft Excel
    • Open Excel Options dialogue by clicking the large Microsoft Office icon in the top left corner (Excel 2007) or File tab (Excel 2010+) and then clicking Excel Options button or Options menu at the bottom.

    • In Excel Options dialogue, select "Add-Ins" from the list on the left. Click Go at the bottom of the dialogue:

    • In the Add-Ins dialogue, you will see a list of available add-ins, one of which will be 'TransTools for Microsoft Excel'. Check / select 'TransTools for Microsoft Excel'.

    • Click OK
    • "TransTools Add-In" group should disappear from Add-Ins tab at the top of Microsoft Excel window.
    • If you need to remove TransTools for Excel physically from your computer (e.g. if you were prompted to uninstall the add-in by the Automatic Installer), close Microsoft Excel to proceed.
