Welcome to the 50th edition of Translator Tools Newsletter!
In this newsletter, I am excited to announce the release of TransTools+ v2.7, featuring a powerful upgrade to Tracked Changes Assistant: the new Convert “False” Tracked Changes To Real Tracked Changes tool. With this addition, you can instantly turn underlines or strikethroughs that merely look like tracked changes into genuine insertions and deletions, making it easy to review, translate, or manage them just like real tracked changes. This enhancement will be especially valuable if you work with legal or Life Sciences documents, where such “false” changes are frequently used. The new version also brings support for the latest version of Office / Microsoft 365.
The new Convert “False” Tracked Changes To Real Tracked Changes tool
From time to time, you may come across Word documents that contain “false” tracked changes — text marked with underlines and strikethroughs instead of genuine Word tracked changes. This is especially common in legal and Life Sciences documents and with Word documents converted from PDFs. Such formatting makes it difficult to translate changes in a CAT tool, continue the review process, or accept and reject edits as you normally would. The new Convert False Tracked Changes to Real Tracked Changes tool in Tracked Changes Assistant solves this problem by instantly converting these formatting-based edits into real tracked changes you can work with seamlessly.

The process is simple: open the Tracked Changes Assistant panel by clicking the Tracked Changes Assistant button on TransTools+ ribbon, make sure “Convert False Tracked Changes to Real Tracked Changes” section is expanded, adjust the settings as required, and click Convert formatting to tracked changes button:
You can even save and load the common settings to/from a profile in order to process similar documents faster.

Support for the latest Office versions
The new TransTools+ version also improves support for Microsoft Office 2024 (build 2406 and newer). If you use Office 2024 or Microsoft 365, I highly recommend you to upgrade to this version to avoid the possible issues with the display of TransTools+ panels.
What’s in store in the near future
Here are some of the upcoming features that are in the works:
- A new check in Pre-flight Checker: identify and remove redundant bookmarks (i.e. bookmarks that do not serve any purpose in a Word document and cause excessive tags in CAT tools).
- Improvements in search-related tools such as Multiple Find & Replace, Highlighting Tool and Hide/Unhide Text tool.
