Installing TransTools for Excel

To install TransTools for Excel, download the automatic installer or the manual installation zip package.

There are two ways to install the program:

1. Automatically: run TransTools_setup.exe and follow the installer instructions.
2. Manually

After you complete the installation process:

1. Enable (activate) TransTools for Excel.

   Open Microsoft Excel.

   • Excel 2003 or earlier: click Tools -> Add-ins. In the Add-Ins dialogue, you will see a list of available add-ins, one of which will be 'TransTools for Microsoft Excel'. Check / select 'TransTools for Microsoft Excel' and click OK.

     

     'TransTools' menu item should appear in the main menu of Microsoft Excel.

   • Excel 2007 or later:

     Note: this step is not required if you use the Automatic Installer ver. 1.1.0 or greater.

     Open Excel Options dialogue by clicking the large Microsoft Office icon in the top left corner and then clicking Excel Options button at the bottom. In Excel Options dialogue, select "Add-Ins" from the list on the left. Click Go at the bottom of the dialogue:

     

     In the Add-Ins dialogue, you will see a list of available add-ins, one of which will be 'TransTools for Microsoft Excel'. Check / select 'TransTools for Microsoft Excel' and click OK.

     

     Now, if you select Add-Ins tab at the top of Microsoft Excel window, you should see "TransTools Add-In" group:

     

2. Macro Security

   If 'TransTools' menu (Excel 2003 or earlier) or 'TransTools Add-in' group (Excel 2007 or later) does not appear, your Macro Security settings are blocking the macros contained in the TransTools add-in. To change your Macro Security settings:

   • Excel 2003 or earlier: go to Tools -> Macro -> Security... and click Trusted Publishers tab. At the bottom of the dialogue you will see a checkbox named 'Trust all installed add-ins and templates' . Enable/check this checkbox and click OK. Restart Microsoft Word. This should allow you to run TransTools commands.

     

   • Excel 2007 or later: open Excel Options dialogue by clicking the large Microsoft Office icon in the top left corner and then clicking Excel Options button at the bottom.

     Select 'Add-ins' from the list on the left and make sure that 'Require Application Add-ins to be signed by Trusted Publisher' and 'Disable all Application Add-ins (may impair functionality' are NOT checked.

     

Now you can use TransTools for Excel by using the menu.
